đĨš End of an eraâĻ? đĨ˛
For those who didnât catch the announcement last year, the RootBound team came to the bittersweet realisation that the 2024 edition would be our last â at least for the foreseeable future.
This very difficult decision was was made in recognition of the ongoing economic challenges facing music festivals in Australia, as well as a shift in the personal priorities of our core event management team.
From its humble origins as a merger between Sprout and Coalescence Festivals, through venue changes and the tumultuous years of 2020 and 2021, we have remained committed to delivering a wholesome and diverse festival experience for the North Queensland community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has attended and contributed to the success of RootBound over the years. Hearing stories of how our happy little event has positively impacted people's lives has sustained us this far, but now the team is taking some time for a well-earned rest.
So, what does this mean for the future? Well, at this point we have no idea! And therein lies much excitement for us. If youâd like to keep up with whatever develops in the meantime, give us a follow over on Facebook and Instagram.

RootBound was hosted at the pristine Mungalla Station near Ingham, FNQ
Experience the Mungalla wetlands which have been restored from the damage of introduced weeds, and see the magnificent aquatic bird life of North Queensland. Located approximately three hours from Cairns and one and a half from Townsville, Mungalla Station is not just a gorgeous camp ground, but also an inspiring Indigenous cultural experience.
